Founder and Chairman, Econet Wireless

Strive Masiyiwa is founder and chairman of Econet Wireless, a global telecommunications group with operations and investments in Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. His business interests also include renewable energy, financial services and hospitality. Masiyiwa sits on a number of international boards, including the Rockefeller Foundation, the Council on Foreign Relations' global advisory board, the Africa Progress Panel, Morehouse College and the Hilton Foundation's Humanitarian Prize jury. He also chairs the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa and the Micronutrient Initiative, a global organization focused on improving nutrition. Fortune magazine named him to its 2014 list of World's 50 Greatest Leaders. A philanthropist whose contributions to education, health and development have been widely recognized, Masiyiwa is a member of the Giving Pledge. He and his wife finance the Higher Life Foundation, which provides scholarships to more than 42,000 African orphans.
