In the US, recent decades have witnessed unprecedented declines in male participation in both the workforce and in higher education, coupled with disproportionate drops in men’s mental health and spikes in suicide rates. The data begs the question: What went wrong? What factors are causing many American men to withdraw from social, civic, and economic life? And what can individual men—and women—of all backgrounds do to combat these concerning trends? This panel of diverse perspectives will address these developments, the way we think and talk about masculinity, and how we can better foster and support men.
