Petra Nemcova

Supermodel, Philanthropist, and Co-Founder of All Hands and Hearts
Petra Nemcova

Petra Nemcova founded her charity, Happy Hearts Fund, in 2005 with a mission to rebuild safe, resilient schools in areas impacted by natural disasters. Petra has been the key motivation and drive behind the cause of rebuilding schools for children forgotten after disasters due to lack of sustained response. Having been blessed to survive the 2004 Tsunami, her self-understanding of Mother Nature's power helps her connect with those in need of aid and hope after their lives have been shattered. "We can't control nature, but we can control the actions we take." In 2017 Happy Hearts Fund merged with All Hands Volunteers to create All Hands and Hearts efficiently and effectively address the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. Together we have rebuilt 254 resilient schools, serving over 109,000 children in 12 countries and has helped more than 1,189,000 community members in 18 countries around the world. All that through the support of 56,000 volunteers from 144 countries. Petra has received accolades for her philanthropic work from The United Nations, Women Together, Glamour Woman of the Year, and Do Something. In 2017, Petra was appointed by the UNISDR as a Disaster Risk Reduction Champion and Tsunami Awareness Advocate.
