Joe Dumars

Three-time NBA Champion; Former President of Basketball Operations, Detroit Pistons
Joe Dumars

One of the top shooting guards of his era, Joe Dumars was a consistent all-around player throughout his 14-year NBA career. He played his entire career with the Detroit Pistons and was a six-time All-Star, the owner of two NBA Championship rings, a defensive standout and a clutch shooter. His ascent to NBA stardom reached another milestone in 1989-90 when he was selected to play in the NBA All-Star Game for the first time. Following the 1995-96 season, he was presented with the league's first Sportsmanship Award which is now known as Joe Dumars Trophy, bestowed to the player who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court -- ethical behavior, fair play and integrity. Later on, Dumars would return to the Pistons during the 1999-2000 season as President of Basketball Operations, eventually leading them to the 2004 NBA Champions, being the only African American to lead an NBA organization to an NBA World Championship. He was also elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006 and named NBA Executive of the Decade from 2000-2010. Since 2017, Dumars has led a full service sports agency that represents over 300 players from the NFL, NBA and MLB. A native of Louisiana, Dumars received his Bachelors degree in business management from McNeese State University.
