Belinda Chng

Senior Director, Policy and Programs, Asia, Milken Institute International

Belinda Chng is senior director for policy and programs at Milken Institute's Asia office in Singapore. She oversees the office's research, outputs, and knowledge partnerships, including the Financial Innovations Labs in Asia, which promotes financial solutions to overcome economic and social challenges. During Chng's tenure at the Institute, the labs have resulted in concrete outcomes, including the creation of new investment funds to support biomedical research and the implementation of government policies for the creation of the Philippines’ first sovereign wealth fund.

Prior to joining the institute, Chng was a research fellow at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. She authored policy briefs, articles, and papers on the health and environmental intersections of food security, regional economic integration, and pandemic preparedness in Asia, in addition to work commissioned by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the National Security Coordination Secretariat of Singapore, and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia.

Previously, Chng was the policy advisor to the research arm of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, an intergovernmental forum for 21 member economies in the Pacific Rim that promotes free trade in the region. She is a graduate of the Australian National University and has a Master of Science (International Relations) from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
