Media organizations have always mixed journalism and politics: The reporters aim to recount events objectively, favoring no one, while the editorialists present their worldview to influence policy and society. Is that system broken in the United Kingdom? In the run-up to March 29th, big media often seems to be as partisan and politically entrenched as the factions it covers. A healthy democracy arguably needs more from its print and broadcast outlets. Where does British media go from here, and to what effect?
