"Us versus Them" narratives have had a dramatic, harmful impact on the nation, weakening our cohesiveness, creating a climate of distrust between groups and in our institutions. How can we build bridges across what divides us? What lessons can be drawn from our history to motivate us to create a stronger America? Restoring civility, mutual understanding, and respect will require effort by all Americans. How can we advance beyond our divisions? Who will lead that charge?
