Sarah Ortner

Sarah Ortner is a senior associate at the Milken Institute’s Center for Financial Markets. She works on the Institute’s Excellence and Equity in Public Finance efforts, with emphasis on climate resilience and community infrastructure deployment. Prior to her role at the Institute, Ortner held positions in the campaign field and finance, as well as business development and nonprofit policy. She worked for Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden’s Presidential Campaigns during the 2020 election cycle before entering the nonprofit space to bring advocacy and awareness to human rights and public health issues. Most recently, she represented the southern region of the United States at Grassroots Analytics, a DC-based firm that aims to remove barriers to civic and community engagement with innovative fintech solutions. Ortner holds a bachelor’s in political science and mass communications, with a focus in international affairs from the University of South Florida. In addition to her work at the Institute, she is also enrolled at George Washington University, in pursuit of a master of public administration, with dual fields of study in budget and public finance and private-public policy and management.
