James Courtright recently returned to Dakar, Senegal, after completing a graduate degree in International Affairs with a focus on human rights at Columbia University in New York. His writing has been published in NPR, African Arguments, The Christian Science Monitor, and other publications. Before working as a freelance journalist, he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kolda, Senegal, for three years. He speaks English, Pulaar (Puel/Fula), French and some Swahili.
