Reinvigorating Investments in Alzheimer's Drug Development (Invite only)

Tuesday, April 30, 2019
8:00 AM - 9:15 AM

Investing in the development of drugs to prevent, treat, or cure Alzheimer's is a high-risk, high-reward endeavor. In seeking to minimize that risk, government, venture, and industry investors alike often avoid promising projects, leaving strong pre-clinical and clinical research underfunded or unsupported.

This invitation-only session examines how decades of costly Alzheimer's Phase III clinical-trial failures have frightened investors, the vital role that "big" philanthropy has played in feeding the drug development pipeline, and how to reinvigorate investment in promising Alzheimer's drugs that offer alternatives to failed drug trials. Participants will come to a consensus on where critical funding for Alzheimer's is most needed, identify incentives for various stakeholders, and highlight the on-ramps and roles of each stakeholder in hastening the arrival of Alzheimer's therapeutics in the next decade.
