Russia: Present Tense, Future Uncertain

Tuesday, May 2, 2023
08:30 AM - 09:30 AM PDT
Beverly Hilton - Beverly Hills Ballroom

Russia’s geopolitical future remains unknown. Facing economic and investment fallout from former partners in the West due to its invasion of Ukraine, will Russia devolve into a junior partner to a Chinese superpower seeking hegemony in the East? Or will the costs of the invasion force the Russian public to question both its ruling elite and the assumptions of nationalist revival, leading to an eventual rapprochement with the West? This panel will bring together voices fluent in Russia’s history and current political scene to debate the future trajectory of Russia’s domestic politics, its economic development options, and its place in a changing world order.
