Cloudy with a Chance of Recovery: Forecasting Asia's Economic Outlook.
October 13 at 5:00 pm PDT/ 8:00 pm EDT
After nearly a decade of continuous growth, economic activity across Asia-Pacific was suddenly upended by the COVID-19 pandemic. China saw some recovery in the second half of 2020, but shifting supply chains and growing debt levels may hinder future growth, while other countries remain burdened by high infection rates and economic inactivity across multiple sectors. But bright spots have emerged, especially in Asia's tech industries, buoyed by the accelerated demand for digital services and e-commerce. What is the outlook for Asia-Pacific, given the lingering social inactivity both in the region and around the world? Could technology and digital services serve as catalysts for a strong rebound? Might Asia-Pacific spearhead the global recovery?
