Are You Willing to Give Up Your Privilege?

Are You Willing to Give Up Your Privilege?

October 15 at 11:30 am PDT/2:30 pm EDT

The concept of "privilege"—and the unearned benefits it affords some and not others on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, ability, or religion—has been the topic of discussion for large parts of the past century. But never before have these conversations been more prominent than at this moment, as our country mounts a two-front charge against a global pandemic and social injustice. Fundamentally, what is privilege? How does it manifest itself? How do we create systems, institutions, and societies that are fair, equitable, and just for all? Is privilege a zero-sum game and if so, are we willing and able to give it up?
