Jeffrey T. Dinwoodie is the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Mr. Dinwoodie joined Treasury in July 2020 and leads the Department’s Financial Institutions portfolio. His key areas of focus, in addition to responding to the economic effects of the pandemic, include financial institutions policy, insurance, community and economic development, digital assets and fintech. Mr. Dinwoodie previously served in different capacities on SEC Chairman Jay Clayton’s senior staff, including as Chief Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor for Market and Activities-Based Risk. He served as the SEC’s Deputy Representative to the Financial Stability Oversight Council and various interagency working groups. He was a member of the SEC’s COVID-19 Market Monitoring Group, a senior-level group responsible for managing and coordinating the agency’s COVID-19 monitoring and response work. Mr. Dinwoodie was previously an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell. His practice focused on advising banks, broker-dealers, asset managers and other financial institutions on regulatory, transactional and enforcement matters.
