In 2013, Terry McAuliffe was elected the 72nd Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. He conducted a record 35 trade missions, bringing more than $20 billion in new capital investment. McAuliffe vetoed a record 120 bills and thus protected women’s access to health care, the education system, the environment, and kept more guns off streets. McAuliffe restored the rights of more than 173,000 Virginians. He served as Chairman of the National Governors Association and was a founder of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee. In 2019, McAuliffe became a CNN commentator. He is the New York Times and Washington Post bestselling author of What A Party! My Life among Democrats: Presidents, Candidates, Donors, Activists, Alligators, and Other Wild Animals and Beyond Charlottesville: Taking A Stand Against White Nationalism. McAuliffe was the national finance director for President Jimmy Carter and the Democratic National Committee chairman from 2001-2005. He co-chaired President Bill Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign and his 1997 presidential inauguration. He was the chairman of the 2000 Democratic National Convention and chairman of Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.
