Frank M. Longo, MD, PhD, is Professor and Chairman, Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University. Following neurology training at UCSF, his team pioneered the development of novel drugs for treating neurological diseases. He is the founder and Chairman of the Board of PharmatrophiX, a company focused on the commercial development of these novel therapeutics. Dr. Longo has had the unusual experience of advancing a program from basic mechanism discovery through preclinical trials, human phase 1 safety testing and into a current phase 2a Alzheimer's disease trial. He is the 2015 recipient of the Melvin R. Goodes Prize for Excellence in Alzheimer's Drug Discovery from the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation. In 2016, his team's lead drug for Alzheimer's disease appeared on the cover of TIME magazine.
