James M. Carwana is a vice president at Intel Capital and general manager of the Intel Sports. He leads Intel's efforts to drive a 2nd wave of OTT by providing new interactive fan experiences. Since the formation of Intel Sports in 2016, Carwana has helped lead the acquisition of two companies, has deployed technologies worldwide, and launched multiple partnerships, including major sports leagues. A proven business strategist, Carwana served as technical assistant and strategic program manager to Intel CEO Brian Krzanich before starting Intel Sports in 2016. He spent his first several years at Intel in the Accelerated Leadership Program, a development initiative that exposes associates to diverse Intel businesses. Before joining Intel in 2013, Carwana spent seven years at Newport Media Inc., where he led the company's mobile broadcast products for Japan and Latin America. Carwana holds bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from the UCLA. He also earned an MBA degree from UCLA's Anderson School. He has been granted two patents and his leadership of Intel Sports was recognized in 2017 by Sports Business Journal, which named Intel the Best in Sports Technology winner at its annual Sports Business Awards.
