Koji Fujiwara

Koji Fujiwara is Senior Advisor of Mizuho Financial Group, one of the largest financial institutions in the world. He was a President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mizuho Bank from April 2017 to March 2022, which is an integral part of Mizuho Financial Group. He was also Chairman of the Japanese Bankers Association from April 2018 to March 2019, providing leadership to Japanese banking industry.

With a career spanning over 35 years in Mizuho Group, Mr. Fujiwara has considerable experience within a wide range of financial business including domestic retail and global corporate & investment banking. Prior to becoming President & CEO of Mizuho Bank, he was Group Chief Strategy Officer of Mizuho Financial Group between 2014 to 2017, where he developed and led group-wide strategies promoting one-stop financial services throughout the Mizuho group companies etc.

Mr. Fujiwara holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and New York University, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Concentration in Economics) from Waseda University.
