Milken Institute taps Hiromichi Mizuno as Special Advisor

With decades of finance experience, Mizuno will drive conversations on long-term investments and ESG.

Singapore – July 2, 2020 – The Milken Institute announced today that Hiromichi Mizuno, veteran finance executive and the newest Independent Director on Tesla’s Board of Directors and Audit Committee, has been appointed as Special Advisor to the non-profit, independent think tank, effective immediately.

Mizuno brings decades of experience from the finance sector. His distinguished career spans the globe, having worked in many of the global financial hubs including New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and London. Most recently, he served as the Executive Managing Director and Chief Investment officer of Japan’s Government Pension Investment fund (GPIF), where he managed the largest pension investment fund in the world valuing over US $1.5 trillion.

As Special Advisor to the Milken Institute, Mizuno will play a key role in driving conversations around sustainable and socially-responsible long-term investments by engaging with business leaders, high-level executive, and titans of industry. As a champion of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) principles, he will collaborate with the Milken Institute and its stakeholders on key strategies to propel ESG investing to the next level.

Mizuno joins an accomplished group of Milken Institute experts including Steven Ciobo, former Australian Trade Minister, Nobel Laureate Myron Scholes, Cesar Purisima, former Secretary of Finance for the Philippines, and Zachary Karabell, President of River Twice Research and is also a senior adviser for Business for Social Responsibility.
