Milken Institute Helps Philanthropists Navigate Ways to Fight Pandemic

COVID-19 Philanthropy Hub collects and shares opportunities for donors to aid relief efforts

WASHINGTON, March 31, 2020 — As the COVID-19 pandemic intensifies, philanthropists are stepping forward in myriad ways to address the many hardships created by the crisis, according to the Milken Institute Center for Strategic Philanthropy (CSP).

In response to requests from the field, CSP is launching an online resource for philanthropists looking to give not only financial resources, but also offer time, talents, and connections to support individuals, businesses, health systems, and communities, as they manage the immediate and long-term effects of the crisis.

The Milken Institute COVID-19 Philanthropy Hub incorporates an evolving list of global opportunities that will be augmented regularly. Categorized into health, economic, and social giving, it allows individuals to consider their philanthropic responses holistically and choose options that align with their giving strategies.

The Hub identifies ways social investors can respond to short-term health, economic and social support needs in their own communities and well beyond. CSP will continue to add opportunities that address the intermediate and longer-term needs COVID-19 has laid bare.

“Philanthropists are playing a critical role in confronting this pandemic and preparing for the recovery,” said Melissa Stevens, CSP executive director. “The Hub will be a tool for donors at all giving levels to determine how to effectively leverage their resources in ways that maximize the impact of their giving.”

The Milken Institute COVID-19 Philanthropy Hub is compiled from publicly available sources. The information in the tracker is current as of March 30, 2020. The Milken Institute welcomes queries and suggestions at [email protected].
