Michael Belleville

Dementia Advocate
Michael Belleville

Mike Belleville has been happily married for 38 years. He and his wife Cheryl have three children and five grandchildren. When he was diagnosed with Younger Onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 52, they were devastated. The diagnosis changed three years later to Lewy Body Dementia. Mike has been a very active advocate with numerous dementia organizations, including the Alzheimer’s Association. He has served on the Massachusetts/NH chapter board of directors for three years. He was a National Early Stage Advisor from 2016-2017. He was also a board member of Dementia Alliance International and currently sits on the advisory board and the board of directors for the Dementia Action Alliance. A main goal for Mike is to change the stigma associated with dementia. He also wants to show that you can still live a meaningful, purposeful life after diagnosis. One of his mantras is a line in the movie Shawshank Redemption: “Get busy living or get busy dying,” and Mike has chosen to get busy living.
