CEO, American Heart Association
Nancy Brown

Nancy Brown is CEO of the American Heart Association (AHA), a 96-year-old organization guided by a mission: To be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. Serving as CEO since 2008, Nancy has elevated the AHA from the largest nonprofit focused on cardiovascular diseases and stroke, to a global authority in overall health and well-being. During her leadership and more than 30-year tenure, the AHA defined "ideal cardiovascular health." Most recently, the organization announced its bold 2024 Impact Goal, sharpening its lens on health equity as it approaches its 100th anniversary. Backed by over 40 million supporters and staff, Nancy has championed AHA initiatives to fund novel research, strengthen healthy policy, raise consumer awareness, transform systems of care and advance health equity for all. With Nancy at the helm, the AHA is leading the way in the pandemic response by funding fast-tracked studies on the heart and brain impact of the coronavirus, tracking patient data through the AHA COVID-19 CVD Registry, training front-line health care workers, advocating for federal pandemic relief and responding to community needs. Through its Social Impact Fund and Bernard J. Tyson Impact Fund, the AHA also invests in community-led solutions to socioeconomic barriers to health and well-being.
