Fatima Sani Bala

Fatima is a seasoned Central Banker with over ten years of experience in the banking industry. She spent seven years in the Structured Liquidity Products Office of the Financial Markets Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria. She then moved to the Development Finance Department of the Bank working directly with the Director of the Department. During this time Fatima has contributed to key strategic transformation initiatives of the Bank, including developing the “CBN Rule Book”, the Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Scheme (TIES), and others.  Fatima graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 2008 with a degree in Economics, followed by a master’s degree in Energy Economics and Policy from the University of Surrey. Fatima is also an alumna of the IFC-Milken Institute Capital Markets Program at George Washington University (class of Fall 2019), during which she obtained a graduate certificate in capital markets and undertook a work placement with Kroll. Over the years, she has also attended numerous training courses spanning macroeconomics, banking and finance, and agricultural finance amongst others. Additionally, Fatima is an active member of the Impact Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, raising awareness of sickle cell disease in low-income areas of Nigeria, raising funds to treat less privileged sickle cell patients, and soliciting for blood donations among other life-saving initiatives.
