Brian A. Swain, CFA
Brian A. Swain has extensive experience in the investment and asset management industry. Swain joined Howard University in February 2018 and currently serves as deputy chief investment officer in the university’s investment office, where he manages the endowment, retirement trust, and treasury balances.
Prior to joining Howard University, Swain worked for 28 years in various roles, including senior managing director and portfolio manager at Tiburon Capital Management LLC; cofounder and chief investment officer at Quattro Global Capital LLC; and analyst, head of research, and portfolio manager for the Palladin Group LLC. He also received credit and analytical training at Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he served as an investment analyst in its private debt division.
In addition to his role at Howard University, Swain serves as independent chair of Nomura ETF Trust Funds and as a member of its audit committee, a position he has held since October 2023. He recently retired as a board of investments trustee for the Montgomery County Employees’ Retirement Plan Investment Trust in Maryland, where he served from October 2021 to his retirement.
Swain received a bachelor of science in finance in 1990 from Pennsylvania State University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society Washington, DC.
