Juan is a Partner and Co-President of Valor, where he leads the firm’s capital raising and client service functions and supports investment sourcing, due diligence, structuring, and execution. He serves on all Valor Investment Committees, sits on the Boards of Directors of Harmony Biosciences and Addepar, and is a Board Observer for Dataminr and BlueVoyant. He has been involved with Valor since 2008 and joined the firm full-time in 2010. Juan has more than 25 years of private equity investing and investment banking experience. Before Valor, he was a Managing Director in Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Division, where he covered private equity firms, served in divisional senior management, and advised clients in Latin America. He later partnered with a law school classmate to grow Augeo Marketing into a leading affinity and loyalty company, and he served as Co-Chairman. Juan also serves on the Boards of The Frick Collection, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, and the National Association of Investment Companies, and on the Advisory Board of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
His prior public service includes appointment by President George W. Bush to the President’s Advisory Council on the Arts, and appointment by President Joe Biden to the U.S. Military Academy Board of Visitors and to the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico.
Juan holds an A.B. in History from Princeton University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. He also studied at Mansfield College, Oxford University, and served in the US Army Reserve.
