Daniel Shand

Daniel is the Chief Investment Officer of Barana Group, a Sydney-based investment and real estate firm established by Greg Shand in 1991. Alongside Barana's core commercial real estate business, Daniel manages the firm's investment operation across public and private markets, both within Australia and internationally. Before joining Barana, Daniel was a Vice President at Moelis & Company, where he focused on technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) investment banking, advising clients on M&A and capital raising across the sector. Daniel earned his MBA from Columbia Business School, where he was part of the Value Investing Program and graduated on the Dean's List. He is also a member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association. Beyond his work at Barana, Daniel is active in the philanthropic community. He sits on the investment committee of the JCA and serves as a director of 10x10 Philanthropy, applying the same discipline and long-term perspective to the social-purpose sector that shapes his investing. Daniel is based in Sydney, Australia.
