Angela Antonelli

Angela M. Antonelli is a Research Professor and the Executive Director of the Center for Retirement Initiatives (CRI) at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy. She also is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration and currently serves on the 2023 Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Advisory Board (CIO is an ISS Media Brand). As the Executive Director of the CRI, Angela works closely with policymakers, states, and stakeholders to expand the availability and improve the effectiveness of retirement savings, investment, and income solutions for defined contribution (DC) retirement plans for private sector workers. This includes providing technical assistance, best practices, data, and research. The CRI launched and hosts the State-Facilitated Retirement Savings Program Network (SRSPN) and acts as a clearinghouse and resource hub for state-facilitated retirement savings programs that administer more than $750 million in assets with significant year-over-year growth projected as more programs are adopted and implemented. Angela is relied upon for her insights and opinions on issues appearing in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Pensions & Investments, and many other major news outlets. Prior to joining Georgetown, Angela served in senior positions in the government, consulting, and nonprofit sectors, including as the Assistant Secretary & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She has a B.A., summa cum laude, from Cornell University and an MPA with honors from Princeton University.
