Charles W. Scharf Chief Executive Officer and President Wells Fargo & Company Charlie Scharf is chief executive officer and president, and a member of the Board of Directors of Wells Fargo & Company. A financial services veteran, Charlie served as CEO of Bank of New York Mellon from 2017 to 2019. He was CEO and a director of Visa from 2012 to 2016. Previously, he was a managing director of One Equity Partners at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and CEO of Retail Financial Services at JPMorgan Chase. He was CEO of the retail division of Bank One Corp., and held numerous chief financial officer roles. Charlie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from New York University. He is a director of Microsoft, serves on the board of trustees of Johns Hopkins University, is a member of The Business Council, and is chairman of the New York City Ballet.
