Richard Berner

Richard Berner is Executive-in-Residence at the Center for Global Economy and Business at the NYU Stern School of Business, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics. He teaches Risk Management and Financial Stability, and Fintech Regulation. He is an Advisor to FinRegLab and to HData, Inc., a member of the Milken Fintech Advisory Committee, and a Senior Advisor to MacroPolicy Perspectives. Berner served as the first Director of the Office of Financial Research, and was Counselor to the Secretary of the Treasury. He was Co-Head of Global Economics and Chief U.S. Economist at Morgan Stanley, held similar positions at Mellon Bank, Salomon Brothers and Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, and served on the research staff of the Federal Reserve. Berner has been a member of the Economic Advisory Panel of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, of the Panel of Economic Advisers of the Congressional Budget Office, and of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is a Past President and Fellow of the National Association for Business Economics.
