Jay Banfield is the Chief Officer of Innovation & Scale and Managing Director, California at Year Up. A nationally recognized social enterprise, Year Up partners with firms such as LinkedIn, JPMorgan Chase, and Salesforce to develop talent from within urban communities. Jay is a social entrepreneur with experience in the private, public, non-profit and educational sectors. He began his career at Oracle Corporation. He has worked on local, state and national political campaigns and has served in both the legislative and executive branches of government. He has served as the Chief Assistant Treasurer for the City and County of San Francisco and the Assistant General Manager, Business Services for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. For several years, Jay also taught graduate-level courses as an adjunct faculty member at a Bay Area university. Jay graduated with honors from Stanford University and earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
