Deborah Scher

Deborah leads the Center for Strategic Partnerships in the US Department of Veterans Affairs and provides guidance to the Secretary on public/private partnerships. Her team initiates, negotiates and executes Big, Bold and Impactful collaborations that significantly improve Veterans lives. As the largest integrated healthcare system driven by prevention and outcomes, the VA is an ideal innovation partner. Recent commitments include $50M from the Prostate Cancer Foundation to build cancer care excellence, $50M from Sanford Health for pharmacogenetic testing, cellphone carriers eliminating data charges to access VA video telehealth, retail and VSO outlets hosting telehealth sessions in rural areas and supplying 20 food pantries at VAMCs. Prior to VA, Deborah built successful healthcare businesses as a C-Suite leader in multiple sectors, including positions at Weill Cornell, Dun & Bradstreet, CareOne, Walsh International and Warburg Pincus. A quality driven leader, Deborah was a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner, evaluating US companies for performance excellence. Deborah has an MBA in Finance from Columbia University and a BA in Sociology from Haverford College.
