Edison Liu, M.D., is the President and CEO of The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), a leading non-profit bioresearch institute focused on complex genetics and genomic medicine. Previously, he was the founding Executive Director of the Genome Institute of Singapore, Scientific Director for the National Cancer Institute's Division of Clinical Sciences (USA), and Professor of Oncology, Epidemiology, and Genetics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a recognized researcher in the molecular oncology and functional genomics of breast cancer, he has authored over 300 scientific articles and books, and received a number of awards. As a global leader in genomic sciences, he served twice as President of the Human Genome Organization. Dr. Liu received both his BS and MD degrees at Stanford University followed by training at Washington University St. Louis (Internal Medicine), Stanford (Oncology), the University of California at San Francisco (Hematology), and the Hooper Foundation (UCSF, molecular biology research).
