Jon Mahrt joined Optum in 2016 and currently serves as president of Optum Rx’s Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) and chief operating officer for Optum Rx, UnitedHealth Group’s pharmacy services business. In leading the PBM, Jon has end-to-end oversight, helping clients and over 60 million people achieve better health outcomes and lower overall costs through innovative prescription drug benefit services. He is also responsible for leading operations across Optum Rx, which provides a full range of pharmacy, administrative, customer care and transaction processing functions. With a sharp customer focus, Jon embraces the value of service experience as a tenet of his leadership and pushes his teams consistently go above and beyond for members. He is also passionate about leaning into the hearts and minds of team members — ensuring the impact of their compassion for, and support of each other and the members, providers and clients accessing the health system each day is realized. Jon has deep experience in health care and technology. He has held a variety of general management, operations and sales management leadership positions throughout his career. Prior to Optum, he spent five years as the senior vice president of Healthcare Services for Expert Global Solutions. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management. A Minnesota native, Jon and his wife reside in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they enjoy exploring the great outdoors and traveling to see their children.
