Daniel Buss

Dr. Daniel Buss is the head of the climate change and environmental determinants of health unit at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) – the Regional office of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Region of the Americas – based in Washington DC. This unit coordinates PAHO/WHO actions in the 35 countries and 18 territories of the Americas on health and climate change, air quality, water, sanitation and hygiene, waste management, chemical safety, and epidemiology and environmental toxicology. Dr Buss is a biologist, with a master's degree in Ecology and a PhD in Public Health. Prior to joining PAHO/WHO, Dr Buss has worked as a researcher and in supporting policy-making in Latin America on public health, citizen-science programs, and biodiversity and health in the Amazonian Region.
