Mr. Lawrence Wong is the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance. He also is the Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, as well as a member of the GIC Board, the Future Economy Council, the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council and the National Research Foundation Board. Mr. Wong has previously held positions in the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Communications and Information, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, the Ministry of National Development, and the Ministry of Education. He also co-chaired the Multi-Ministry Taskforce on COVID-19 from 2020 - 2023, which oversaw the Singapore Government’s response to the pandemic. Mr. Wong obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.
