Eugênia Barthelmess

Ambassador Barthelmess is a career diplomat in the Brazilian foreign service, which she joined in early 1989. She has been the Ambassador of Brazil to Singapore since February 2020. Prior to arriving in Singapore, she had been Director for South America at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2013. Ambassador Barthelmess was previously posted, in different capacities, to the Brazilian Embassies in Bolivia, the United Kingdom, and Ecuador, as well as to the Permanent Missions of Brazil to the OAS in Washington and the European Union in Brussels. She was awarded the Grand Cross of the Brazilian Order of Rio Branco (2018); the Order of Aeronautical Merit of the Brazilian Air Force (2017); the Tamandaré Medal of Merit of the Brazilian Navy (2016); and the Order of Naval Merit of the Brazilian Navy (2023). She is a Grand Official of the National Order of Merit of the Republic of Paraguay (2018). The Ambassador was born in 1959. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in literature. She and her husband have one grown-up daughter.
