Daniel Doctoroff

Daniel L. Doctoroff stepped down as Chairman and CEO of Sidewalk Labs, Alphabet’s pioneering urban innovation company, in late 2021 upon being diagnosed with ALS. HIs focus now is scaling up Target ALS, the organization that he founded in 2013 which has developed a novel, collaborative approach to ALS research. Target ALS funds multi-disciplinary consortia and tools and resources to accelerate research into clinical trials. From 2008 to 2014, Dan was President and Chief Executive Officer of Bloomberg L.P. Prior to joining Bloomberg, he served as Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding for the City of New York, where he led the city’s dramatic economic resurgence after 9/11. His memoir-manifesto, Greater than Ever: New York’s Big Comeback, was named by The Economist as one of the four essential books to understand New York City. Before joining the Bloomberg Administration, Dan was Managing Partner of investment firm Oak Hill Partners. While there he founded NYC2012, New York’s Olympic bid. Dan serves on the Boards of several of the companies created by Sidewalk Labs, the University of Chicago and Bloomberg Philanthropies. He is a founding chair of The Shed.
