Dr. Oscar Contreras is an economist specializing in International Finance within the Research Department at the Milken Institute. He has experience in macroeconomics and financial markets, particularly in emerging economies.
Before joining the Institute, Contreras was a Senior Economist at the Research Department of the Central Bank of Mexico, where he was responsible for providing macroeconomic analysis on monetary policy issues and conducting original research on macroeconomic and financial topics. Prior to the Bank, he was an Assistant Professor at the University College for Financial Studies (CUNEF) in Madrid, Spain.
Contreras holds a PhD in Economics from Northwestern University and a BA (Hons) in Economics from the Center for Economics Research and Teaching (CIDE) in Mexico City.
