Global Insights from the Asia Pacific: A Conversation with Chan Chun Sing and Simon Birmingham.

October 13 at 6:00 pm PDT/9:00 pm EDT

Singapore is a good barometer for the global economic climate, firmly positioned as a key convergence zone between East and West. Australia has enjoyed nearly three decades of economic growth, the longest among developed countries, driven by global demand for its commodities, goods, and services. But the winds that pushed growth over the last decade also churned up a storm in the form of a global health pandemic, which quickly disrupted economic activity and impacted the health and livelihoods of millions of people. In this conversation, Minister Chan and Minister Birmingham provide insights for the global community. With the forecast remaining in the doldrums, what can governments do to better align their recovery efforts? What can be done to overcome geopolitical and trade tensions and increasingly nativist attitudes? Which sectors are primed to accelerate global recovery and how can private and public sector leaders facilitate these social transformations?
