Eric Wong

Group Chief Data and Strategy Officer, Data and Strategy Office, National Healthcare Group

Eric is currently the Group Data & Strategy Officer (GCDSO) for National Healthcare Group, Singapore. He is responsible for the overall vision, planning and implementation of its healthcare IT capabilities.Eric was awarded the Ministry of Education, Singapore Scholarship in 1994 and subsequently received his MBBS from the National University of Singapore in 2002. Upon graduation he joined National Healthcare Group and in 2010 obtained his specialist accreditation in Emergency Medicine. To this date Eric continues to serve patients as Senior Consultant in the Emergency Department of TTSH. He attained his Master of Biomedical Informatics from Stanford University, USA in 2015 after receiving Tan Tock Seng Hospital Scholarship in 2012.During his tenure earlier as CMIO in TTSH, Eric has been pivotal in integrating technology with medicine for optimised patient safety and care delivery. He led numerous clinical IT initiatives, including outpatient electronic prescription, electronic clinical documentation, closed loop inpatient medication management systems, clinical decision support system, electronic care paths etc, just to name a few. These efforts were widely recognised. TTSH was awarded HIMSS EMR Adoption Model Stage 6 in 2011, and received its HIMSS-Elseiver Digital HealthCare award in 2013 for its integrated patient tracking and vital signs automation project. In addition, Eric was involved in various national healthcare IT strategic planning and served in Ministry of Health's Chief Medical Informatics Officer Council.
