1997 was a pivotal year: a region-wide financial crisis devastated Asian economies, the Kyoto Protocol became one of the first global accords to address climate change, and China resumed exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong from Great Britain. Two decades later, Asia has grown to become a mighty driver of global economic growth whilst China makes its political and economic ambitions for power clear. This panel will discuss the key lessons of the global economy over the past 20 years and assess the outlook for the next 20.
