Stock exchanges around the world are facing a number of challenges, including competition for listings from other exchanges and private capital markets, competition for trading from alternative trading systems, and heightened regulatory scrutiny. At the same time, opportunities have arisen, such as an uptick in new public offerings, as well as the ability to diversify into more geographic areas and asset classes.
