Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat's unique career spans 40 years and three presidential administrations. He served in a variety of roles, including chief domestic policy advisor for President Jimmy Carter; ambassador to the European Union, under secretary of commerce for international trade, under secretary of state for economic business and agricultural affairs, and deputy treasury secretary for President Bill Clinton; and special advisor on Holocaust issues for Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. In his most recent book, President Carter: The White House Years, Ambassador Eizenstat gives a forthright and in-depth analysis of the complexities faced by those fortunate enough to carry the title of president. Today, he serves as senior counsel at Covington & Burling LLP, where he heads the firm's international practice.
