Mission Possible: From ESG to the SDGs (Invite only)

Doing well by accomplishing good is the goal of every socially conscious investor. Whether it's aligning your investments to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating environmental, social or governance (ESG) factors into your portfolio management, or seeking active, impact investments that have measurable social good, it is clear that more and more "mainstream" investors are exploring more mission-driven opportunities. One recent study estimated that nearly $12 trillion in US portfolios is invested with some kind of social aim: environmental sustainability, for example, or pro-worker policies. But how can you ensure that products that are marketed as SDG or ESG are substantive, data-driven investments that move past a label and demonstrate a true triple bottom line? This private session will highlight opportunities that have a proven track record, as well as data tools and market resources that help to evaluate and validate impact investment opportunities.

The session participants will discuss:

  • What tools can investors use to design and track their ESG strategy to prove the factors are material to overall financial performance?
  • Are there products that truly link to the SDGs? Is there enough data at a granular level to prove success?
  • What products across the impact continuum have had the longest, most demonstrable track records?
  • What data is missing and how can more traditional financial institutions integrate impact or sustainability factors into their systems to allow for better monitoring and evaluation?
