This session will open with a conversation between His Royal Highness, Prince Turki AlFaisal AlSaud, moderated by Michael Milken, followed by a roundtable discussion, facilitated by Cornelia Meyer.
The last two decades saw major conflicts in the greater MENA area, including the Arab Spring and the rise and fall of ISIS. Libya ended up a failed state, and Iraq and Syria were obliterated. In the end, the Assad regime survived. As the U.S. seems to be retreating from the territory and Europe is occupied with its refugees, other powers are gaining a strong foothold. Meanwhile, some Middle East nations needs to be rebuilt on a massive scale. The GCC has an important role to play, particularly the KSA and the UAE. The international community also has a responsibility to lend support. Who should take the lead in moving forward and is this the right time to start discussing reconstruction?
