Charting the Course: Opportunities to Re-think Global Health

-

Last year was rife with disruptions to the global health status quo. Front and center: funding cuts to global health initiatives, NGOs, and multilateral organizations, leading to increased disease rates and loss of health outcome gains. The US and others are pulling out of longstanding global leadership roles. These events are occurring among critical global trends, including aging of populations, increases in chronic diseases and reduced healthy lifespans, and increasing health impacts of climate change. A dynamic landscape brings myriad challenges, but also an opportunity to rethink how work on global health is organized, funded, and executed. Both givers and receivers of funds are adapting their models to conform and adapt to the evolving global landscape. Addressing the challenges, panelists will convey how governments, NGOs, philanthropists, the private sector, and other stakeholders are reorganizing, reprioritizing, and adapting to the changing landscape.
