-

Federal support for equitable biomedical research is increasingly threatened Amid political and legal challenges. Recent rollbacks and restrictions may counter hard-won gains making science more inclusive and impactful to democratize opportunities for all to achieve optimal health. The role of philanthropic and non-federal funders becomes ever more critical as changes become embedded. Panelists will explore how urgency and resolve on the part of health and biomedical research funders can ensure that equity remains the foundation of rigorous, relevant science. Participants will scan the implications of recent policy changes, identify new barriers to inclusive research practices, and hear from funders who continue to champion health equity. Discussions will center on how funders can sustain and expand equity-focused initiatives amid political shifts and assess emerging innovative practices to promote community engagement and workforce diversity in advancing Americans’ health.
