According to the World Health Organization, more than a billion people around the world suffered a mental health disorder in the last year. The Gulf States are not immune to mental health challenges; at least 20 percent of citizens are estimated to experience a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other diagnoses. Stigma around mental illness is pervasive in the region. Moreover, access to services is limited and expensive. Pressure is building in the Gulf States to select and adapt best practices with the aim of developing a high-quality mental health system for all.
