The Milken Institute is a publicly supported, nonpartisan, independent think tank whose work makes a difference in the lives of people worldwide by helping create a more democratic and efficient global economy.
What type of research does it do?
We use capital-market principles and financial innovations to address social and economic challenges, from energy independence to poverty, here in the United States and around the world. We conduct research and make recommendations to solve real-world challenges.

Where can I get a copy of your research reports, slides, audio, etc?
Most Milken Institute research and multi-media content is available for free download on our web site, after you complete a simple log in, either under publications or in our multi-media section. Some content is reserved for attendees only and some is available for purchase. Hard copies of our research reports and other written material can be bought online on our
publications page.
What events do you have and are they open to the public?
The Milken Institute hosts a variety of conferences, workshops and forums at the Milken Institute, throughout the U.S. and around the globe. Events are posted on our web site calendar. Many of our events are open to the public, but some are exclusively for Milken Institute Associates or are by invitation only.
Our largest events are our conferences. Every year, the Milken Institute offers an unprecedented opportunity to examine global issues among the top thinkers and decision-makers in the world at our Global Conference and brings California's thought-leaders together for the premier policy conference at our State of the State Conference.
How long has the Milken Institute been in existence?
The Institute was founded in the early 1990s as the Milken Institute for Job and Capital Formation by philanthropist and financier Michael Milken and his brother, Lowell Milken. Its initial focus on the interaction between education and job growth has expanded to include many other issues that are increasingly relevant in a global economy.
Who runs the Milken Institute?
The Milken Institute is headed by Michael Klowden, President and CEO. Michael Milken is Chairman and guides the vision and overall goals of the Institute. Senior staff members direct the research centers of the Institute.
How many people does the Milken Institute employ?
Close to 50 people work at the Milken Institute. They are economists, senior fellows, analysts and support staff. Additional staff of about a dozen people work at FasterCures/The Center for Accelerating Medical Solutions, in Washington, D.C. as staff and program personnel.

We also publish an economic quarterly, The Milken Institute Review, formerly known as Jobs & Capital. More than 250 authors have written for the magazine since it began and it continues to be an outstanding update on the present and upcoming social and economic issues that the world faces.
