Intentional employer investments are pivotal to the health and performance of people, communities, and businesses. This brief takes a closer look at the Milken Institute Employer Action Exchange’s research that shows the human and economic cost of exclusion from the workforce, particularly of veterans. As one analysis illustrates, “military-friendly” employers outperform their “non-military-friendly” peers, with a 4 percent difference in stock growth rate.

Whether veterans are employed by the federal government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations, their training and experience bolster an organization’s ability to face risks and develop resiliency.
